Our Natural Daily Skin Care Routine | Yarrow Pom Essential Oil

We am a low-maintenance gal, and up until this past year, we wouldn’t really have had a daily skin care routine to share.

But we am in our 30s now, and we decided it was probably about time to stop skipping right past everything that says “younger-looking skin.”

As you all know, we love to make our own products and nearly make everything in our house. We have made our own face wash, moisturizers, deodorant, and even makeup.

The makeup thing didn’t really work out. We could never master the waterproofing part. Maybe we will try again sometime.

About six months ago, we started using the doTERRA Verage skincare line, and we am absolutely loving it. We noticed a difference in how our skin looked right away, and so did our husband.

On top of that, we use a few essential oils. We am going to walk you through exactly what we do and why, and believe me, it does not take long.

Like we said, we am very low maintenance when it comes to this kind of thing.

Our Simple Natural Skincare Routine

Our whole routine comes down to a few natural products used in the same order every day: a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer, followed by a couple of our favorite essential oils. Here is how it goes, step by step.

The doTERRA Verage Skincare Line

This skincare line comes with a cleanser, toner, hydrating serum, and moisturizer. It is made with natural ingredients, and each product has essential oils in it.

It is wonderfully moisturizing and hydrating, and it helps soften the look of fine lines and even out the appearance of our skin tone. You can find this natural skincare line here.

The Cleanser

After wetting our face with warm water, we use the Verage cleanser.

You don’t need a lot, one pump will do. The cleanser has wild orange, basil, and melaleuca in it, which help cleanse and purify the skin while leaving it feeling moisturized and soft.

We massage it in, let it sit for a minute, then rinse with warm water.

The Toner

Following the cleanser, we use the Verage toner. It helps the skin feel tightened and look more even.

We spray it directly onto our face and rub it in. It has ylang ylang, coriander, cypress, and palmarosa essential oils in it.

If you love a good toner, we also have a recipe for a DIY facial toner you can make at home.

The Hydrating Serum

This is our favorite product in the line. After the toner, we smooth this serum over our face.

It smells amazing and is made up of some of the most prized essential oils. With rose, frankincense, myrrh, Hawaiian sandalwood, lavender, and helichrysum, this stuff is the icing on the cake.

The Moisturizer

Finally, we finish with the Verage moisturizer.

This is a must-have during the winter months when our skin gets dry. We have even used it on our arms a few times when we was desperate.

Again, it is made with natural ingredients and essential oils, with several floral oils that make it smell wonderful. If you would rather make your own, here is our homemade face moisturizer.

Yarrow Pom (a.k.a. Blueberry Oil)

After we finish the four Verage products, we rub a little yarrow pom oil into our face. Our kids call it blueberry oil because it is bright blue, and yes, you will look like a smurf for a minute.

Don’t worry, it rubs right in. It is a newer essential oil, and our skin looks and feels great since we added it to our routine.

Why we Love Yarrow Pom in our Routine

  • The “pom” stands for pomegranate seed oil, which is wonderfully nourishing for the skin.
  • It leaves our skin looking smooth and youthful.
  • It helps soften the look of fine lines and even out our skin tone.
  • It is a pretty addition to our routine for the look of age spots.

We love the soft, earthy scent too.

We apply it topically twice a day, right after our moisturizer.

Our Anti-Aging Roller Bottle

As part of our routine, we like to roll a simple anti-aging blend over our face, paying close attention to the area around our eyes for the look of crow’s feet. Like all essential oils, you don’t want to get these in your eyes, so go carefully around that area.

Ideally we would do this at the very end of our routine, but we don’t always remember. So we keep the roller in our makeup bag and our diaper bag.

If it is handy, we remember to roll it on when we see it. Something is better than nothing, right?

Our Weekly Mud Mask

We have a mud mask that we really love.

It is also made by doTERRA. It isn’t something we do daily, but rather weekly or every other week.

Our daughter likes to do it with me, so we turn it into a little girls’ night. It is infused with myrrh, juniper berry, and grapefruit.

It leaves our skin feeling soft and soothed and helps minimize the look of our pores. If you would like to make your own, try our rose clay face mask or our glowing skin face mask.

Fractionated Coconut Oil Makeup Remover

Fractionated coconut oil is our go-to makeup remover.

It works amazingly well, even on mascara. Simply dab a little under the eye, rub it in, and wipe it away.

You can use it on your whole face when you need to take off makeup anywhere else too. It is one of the simplest, most budget-friendly beauty swaps we have made.
