WHAT IS GINGER ESSENTIAL OIL?

Ginger comes from a knotted underground stem called a rhizome, and the essential oil is steam distilled from the ginger plant. It has a warm, spicy, slightly woodsy scent that is just perfect for fall and winter, which is exactly why it shows up in so many of our seasonal blends.

HOW TO USE GINGER ESSENTIAL OIL

The easiest way to enjoy ginger is to diffuse it. Add 4-6 drops to your diffuser and top it off with water, or add a couple of drops to a cotton ball or tissue and breathe in that cozy, spicy scent.

MAKE A COZY SIMMER POT

Just keep an eye on the water so it does not simmer dry. One of our favorite ways to make the whole house smell amazing is a stovetop simmer pot. Fill a small pot with water, add a sliced orange, a couple of cinnamon sticks, and a spoonful of whole cloves, then drop in a few drops of ginger essential oil. Simmer on low and let that warm, spicy scent fill the house.

POTPOURRI AND HOMEMADE GIFTS

Ginger is lovely in homemade potpourri too. Add a few drops onto dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and cloves for a simple bowl of holiday scent. It is also a warm, cozy addition to homemade candles or a batch of homemade soap when you want that spicy, gingerbread feel.

A Few Safety Notes

Ginger is a warm oil, so always dilute it with a carrier oil before applying it to your skin, and do a small patch test first. Keep your oils away from your eyes, and store them safely out of reach of children and pets.
