On Guard is one of our most used DoTERRA blends, and honestly it is the first oil we reach for the second the weather starts to cool down. It is warm and spicy, it makes the whole house smell like fall, and it works its way into just about all of our natural cleaning too.
On Guard is a blend that DoTERRA makes, and it is absolutely our most favorite essential oil blend! We had to add the “absolutely” because we say that a lot, but this one is our favorite for real.
That sweet, spicy scent is exactly what makes it so lovely to diffuse all fall and winter long. This is the oil we want on hand as we head into the cooler months. On Guard is a cozy blend of wild orange, clove, cinnamon, rosemary, and eucalyptus, and it is doTERRA’s blend known as the protective blend.

HOW TO USE ON GUARD ESSENTIAL OIL
The easiest way to enjoy On Guard is to diffuse it. Add 4-6 drops to your diffuser, or add a few drops to a cotton ball or tissue and breathe in that cozy, spicy scent. It is also one of our go-to oils for homemade cleaners, and we have shared our favorite recipes below.
COZY FALL DIFFUSER BLENDS

FALL CIDER
3 drops On Guard
2 drops wild orange
1 drop clove
COZY MORNING
3 drops On Guard
2 drops cinnamon
ON GUARD DIY CLEANING RECIPES
On Guard is one of our favorite oils to clean with, and that warm, spicy scent it leaves behind is such a bonus. Here are the three recipes we make again and again.
Natural Hand and Surface Spray
Add 10-15 drops of On Guard to a 4-ounce spray bottle and fill the rest of the way with water. Use it on your hands and to freshen up surfaces around the house.
Foaming Hand Soap
Add 1/4 cup castile soap and 15 drops of On Guard essential oil to a foaming hand soap container. Top off with water and use as an all-natural hand soap.
All-Purpose Cleaner
Add 1/2 cup vinegar and 10-15 drops of On Guard to a 16-ounce glass spray bottle and top off with water. Use it to clean surfaces, floors, and mirrors. Grab our other favorite cleaning recipes too.
A Few Safety Notes
On Guard has some warm oils in it like cinnamon and clove, so always dilute it with a carrier oil before applying it to your skin, and do a small patch test first. Keep your oils away from your eyes, and store them safely out of reach of children and pets.
