A Fresh, Clean Spring Blend: Lemon Lavender Peppermint Roller

We am definitely starting to get sick of winter and CAN NOT wait for the warmer weather that springtime will bring. Every year we feel as if winter will never end, but sure enough, it does, and a fresh lemon lavender peppermint roller is one of the first ways we welcome it in.

It’s clean, citrusy, and just a little minty, exactly the kind of fresh we want when the windows finally open again. And with spring comes open windows, fresh air, and that itch to freshen up the whole house. This bright blend is one of our favorite ways to do it.

We love keeping it on our desk and rolling a little on whenever we need a quick pick-me-up.

About the Oils

Essential oil bottles on white table with fresh lemons and lavender.
  • Lemon: Bright, clean, and cheerful. Lemon is the scent that makes a whole room feel freshly wiped down.
  • Lavender: Soft and floral, it rounds out the citrus and mint with a calming note.
  • Peppermint: Cool and crisp. A little goes a long way here, and it keeps the whole blend bright and fresh.

Other Ways to Use This Blend

Don’t feel like making a roller? Here are a couple more ways to enjoy lemon, lavender, and peppermint together.

In the diffuser: Add 3 drops of each oil to your diffuser. It’s lovely first thing in the morning or anytime you’re puttering around the house.

On a cotton ball: Add a drop of each to a cotton ball or tissue and breathe in the fresh scent, or just inhale straight from the bottle.

A Relaxing Spring Bath Soak

Homemade bath salts with essential oils in small white mason jars.

It’s so relaxing after a long day. For a spa-like treat, stir together 1/2 tablespoon of Epsom salt, 1/2 tablespoon of sea salt, and 3 drops each of lemon, lavender, and peppermint. Pour it into a warm bath and soak for at least 20 minutes.

Variations

This blend is a great starting point, and lots of people make it their own. We haven’t tried all of these, but here’s what folks like to do:

  • Add a drop or two of wild orange or bergamot for even more bright citrus.
  • Swap in a little eucalyptus for a fresh, spa-like feel.
  • Add cedarwood if you like a woodsy note underneath the citrus.

Expert Tips

  • Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to your skin.
  • Lemon is a citrus oil and can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so skip the sunshine right after you apply.
  • Give the roller a good shake before each use.
  • Store your oils out of reach of children.

A Few Safety Tips

  • Dilute essential oils in a carrier oil before applying to the skin.
  • Do a patch test first if you have sensitive skin.
  • Citrus oils are photosensitive; avoid direct sun on freshly applied skin.
  • For external use only, and keep oils out of reach of children.
