How amazing is that? I was absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to try out these new products. For my first project, I immediately thought of a space that truly demands both durability and freshness: a bathroom. Specifically, my sister’s kids’ bathroom. This space is a high-traffic zone, utilized daily by three energetic young boys, making it the perfect proving ground for SuperPaint with Air Purifying Technology. We had given this bathroom a bit of a facelift over the summer, but the walls remained a stark white as we deliberated on the perfect splash of color. This was the moment to bring that vision to life.
Designing a Joyful Kids’ Bathroom: A Splash of Color and Clean Air
Bathrooms, by nature, are utilitarian spaces. Yet, even the most functional rooms can – and should – evoke a feeling. For my sister’s kids’ bathroom, my mission was clear: create a space that felt joyful, youthful, fresh, and like a true breath of fresh air. My sister has always been hesitant to embrace color on her walls; in fact, this is the very first house where she’s allowed me to introduce vibrant hues. I’ve made it my personal mission to fill her home with as many ‘feel-good’ colors as possible, and this bathroom transformation was no exception!
For this particular project, bringing air purification to the forefront was key, so I opted for SuperPaint® Interior with Air Purifying Technology.
Choosing the Perfect Palette: The Living Well™ Collection
Both the Sanitizing and Air Purifying SuperPaint products are available in an extensive range of colors, including an incredible 540 inspired hues from the Living Well™ collection. These hues are thoughtfully curated into 11 distinct palettes, each designed to evoke a specific feeling or support a particular lifestyle: Balance, Breathe, Center, Create, Focus, Inspire, Recharge, Reflect, Renew, Unplug, and Unwind.
Given that the paint would be gracing a young children’s space, my aim was to avoid anything overly heavy, serious, or formal. I was immediately drawn to the Create palette, with its captivating array of playful and energetic pastels. These colors are specifically chosen to inspire imagination and creativity, a perfect fit for a seven-year-old and three-year-old twins! The bathroom already featured a really fun and colorful art canvas, which served as my primary inspiration for the color scheme.
For the walls, I selected Daydream SW 6541, a beautiful, soft blue that feels serene yet vibrant. It’s a color that stimulates creativity without being overstimulating, ideal for a space where kids begin and end their day. To complete the airy feel, I chose Topsail SW 6217 for the ceiling. This delicate, almost cloud-like white-blue perfectly complements Daydream, opening up the room and adding an unexpected touch of brightness overhead. Painting the ceiling a color other than standard white truly elevates the design, wrapping the room in a cohesive, dreamy embrace.

To ensure the soft pastel colors didn’t feel overly sweet or childish, I introduced striking black accents. The addition of black trim, a sleek black vanity, and carefully chosen black accessories provided a crucial graphic punch. This contrast prevents the room from feeling “too precious” and injects a modern sophistication, allowing the delicate colors to truly shine while feeling much more substantial and polished. This design choice grounded the space, creating a dynamic balance between playfulness and contemporary style.
Honestly, these pictures hardly do justice to how truly fun and inviting this space has become! It’s a testament to the power of unexpected color choices – and frankly, would it even be a “Shavonda space” if it weren’t a little unexpected?! This bathroom, while undeniably hardworking for three active boys, now radiates pure joy. I firmly believe that every space should evoke a feeling, and this transformation resulted in a room that feels unequivocally youthful, fresh, and like a revitalizing breath of fresh air. My sister, once hesitant about integrating color, now has a home where vibrant, ‘feel-good’ hues are taking root, and this bathroom is a shining example of that mission accomplished.
