Homemade All: Natural Cleaning Wipes

Create a healthier home with these all-natural, non-toxic cleaning wipes. With just a few ingredients, you can replace your germ x and cleaning products with these homemade cleaning wipes.

When we first started using essential oils, having a toxic-free home was our goal! It took several years to get to where we am now. We just started with one thing at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself. We all like a germ-free home, but if you are anything like me, you also like a toxic-free home.

We researched recipes and started trying different things. Let me tell you, we was impressed! We still get that clean, fresh look and scent without the chemicals. We use a couple of essential oils and a few different homemade products to clean our entire house, and it still sparkles. See all our cleaning recipes HERE.

PIN IT FOR LATER

We have 4 little kids (all under 5!) running around our house, so keeping it clean is tough. We spend most of our days outside because they have energy and we want sanity, oh, and a clean house!

We made these simple, all-natural wipes to have on hand when we need them, and we love them! Our rules are: the kitchen is only for mealtimes and don’t color on the walls. But let’s face it; kids don’t always listen…or at least mine don’t!

They are great for wiping down the tables and chairs after mealtime and wiping down the countertops, bathroom vanities, or toys. You can use them to clean toys because if your little ones are anything like our baby, they put EVERYTHING in their mouths.

We like knowing these are made with non-toxic ingredients, and it is okay if our baby gets this in his mouth. Keep a pack in your car to wipe germs off grocery carts and dirty hands after playing at the park.

We used to buy antibacterial disinfecting wipes from the store and wiped EVERYTHING with them! When we learned of the chemicals they were filled with, we quickly got them out of our house.

FIVE PROBLEMS WITH CONVENTIONAL ANTIBACTERIAL WIPES

  1. Antibacterial products have the potential of creating an antibiotic resistance.
  2. They are filled with chemicals and toxins.
  3. These products can act as endocrine disrupters and mimic estrogen, causing hormone imbalances.
  4. They can cause health problems, allergies, and improper immune function when overexposed.
  5. The main ingredients found in disinfecting wipes can cause respiratory issues and alter thyroid functions.

Studies have shown triclosan (one of the chemicals found in many cleaning and personal products) in urine, breast milk, and tumors! The products going on our skin are just as important as the food going in our mouth. This is why we strive to make our own natural products! When you use wipes or any products on the skin, it is being absorbed into the body.

Measuring out and adding castile soap.
Slowly adding fragrance oils to the cleaning wipe solution.
Pouring the solution over top of the wipes inside of the container.
Pulling a wipe out of the container to test how its working.

HOW TO USE YOUR HOMEMADE CLEANING WIPES

To clean, deodorize and disinfect surfaces: Wipe surface clean with a homemade all-natural cleaning wipe. Use enough wipes for the treated surface to remain visibly damp for a few minutes. Let the surface dry.

For highly soiled surfaces, remove excess crumbs and dirt first.

We love using these wipes for cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing. We hope you find them helpful, too! diy cleaning wipes in glass mason jar on white shiplap

CAN we MAKE REUSABLE CLEANING WIPES?

We love having disposable wipes when we am out and about, but making reusable is even easier at home. Plus, it is better for the environment! Now, that is a win-win. 😉 Yes, you can, and this is a great option, especially when you are at home.

Simply make the same solution as above and store it in a glass spray bottle. You can then spray this on a surface or little hands and wipe it off with a clean washcloth.

Or, you can spray it straight on the clean washcloth and then wipe the surface or little hands with the cloth.
