Hello, wonderful friends and fellow home decor enthusiasts! I am absolutely thrilled to embark on this journey again, collaborating with my amazing bestie, Carmeon. It brings me immense joy to resurrect my annual home wish list post for its second consecutive year. Last year’s experience (which you can revisit here) was so incredibly fulfilling that we simply had to bring it back for 2022! This particular post holds a special place in my heart because it’s deeply rooted in the power of manifestation. I wholeheartedly believe in the act of writing down aspirations, visualizing them, and then actively working to bring them to fruition. My life is filled with countless wish lists – from coveted fashion pieces and luxurious handbags to essential skincare, dream travel destinations, and exciting new hobbies I long to explore. These lists are dynamic; they are constantly being updated with new desires and, more importantly, marked off with a satisfying check as goals are achieved. There’s an unparalleled sense of accomplishment that comes from setting an intention, working diligently towards it, and finally realizing that ambition. Moreover, curating this post served as an invaluable guide, helping me maintain focus and intentionality with every home-related purchase. It truly was an accountability partner, and I’m delighted to report that I successfully acquired several cherished items from last year’s list, including the elegant Louis Philippe Mirror, the iconic Vertigo Pendant, a charming Lolly Lolly mug, and my beloved Ficus Audrey. Now, with renewed excitement, I am eager to share with you what captivating pieces and experiences have captured my attention for the year ahead. So, without further ado, let’s dive into my 2022 home wish list!
The Samsung Frame TV: A Seamless Fusion of Technology and Art
Ever since I first laid eyes on the Samsung Frame TV, I’ve been utterly captivated. As a designer, its revolutionary aesthetics and the way it flawlessly integrates into any living space speak directly to my soul. It transcends the typical television, transforming from a black rectangle into a piece of curated art when not in use. The journey to get Naomi on board with this vision has been a gradual one, but I’m ecstatic that she’s now as enthusiastic as I am to make this dream a reality this year. I envision it looking particularly stunning amidst the recent updates and transformations we’ve made during our living room makeover. What excites me most is the prospect of deeply exploring its extensive art library, selecting a rotating collection of masterpieces that will enhance the ambiance of our home. My incredibly talented friend, Dabito, incorporates the Frame TV into almost every one of his projects, and each time, it inspires me anew. He is truly a vocal advocate for the Frame TV, having championed its merits to me for quite some time. In fact, the Frame TV—and Dabito’s persuasive influence—is arguably the only thing that could ever convince me to integrate a gallery wall into our carefully designed space, offering a modern, minimalist take on traditional art display.

The Enduring Charm of a Burlwood Console Table
Okay, I’ll admit it: a burlwood media cabinet made an appearance on last year’s wish list, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite materialize. So, with unwavering determination, burlwood is making its triumphant return to the list this year. My quest for this exquisite material within our home will not cease until I’ve successfully incorporated it once more. Yes, I said “once more” because a few years ago, I penned an entire blog post detailing my immediate and profound regret after parting ways with a beloved burlwood coffee table. That decision has, quite frankly, haunted me ever since. Burlwood, with its unique, swirling grain patterns and rich, warm tones, possesses an undeniable vintage appeal and sophisticated texture that instantly elevates any space. Its distinct character adds a layer of depth and visual interest that mass-produced furniture simply cannot replicate. Since I ultimately opted for a different direction with our media console, I’ve decided to redirect that fervent burlwood energy towards an entry console table. This piece would serve as a stunning focal point in our entryway, offering both practical surface space and a powerful design statement. It’s a chance to redeem that past design regret and infuse our home with the organic elegance that only burlwood can provide. I’m truly enamored with the particular style I have in mind:

Embracing Wellness: The Peloton Bike
No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, and yes, you absolutely just read that a piece of exercise equipment has landed on my wish list. Listen, I know, I truly believed I had sworn off all strenuous workouts and running the moment I transitioned out of the military. However, the reality of the #pandemicpounds is undeniable, and with a significant milestone birthday on the horizon this year, it’s time for a change. After two years of significantly less activity than I was accustomed to, my body is signaling that it’s time to get moving again. The honest truth is, I absolutely detest working out. I loathe it. For most of my life, I relied heavily on my naturally active lifestyle and a generous dose of good genetics to maintain my best physical and mental state. The abrupt halt to my routine – that immediate burst of activity the second I woke up – imposed by the pandemic took a substantial toll on my body and overall health. Furthermore, as a “girl” who is indeed getting older, my body no longer possesses the same resilient bounce-back capacity it did in my twenties or even early thirties. This is precisely why the Peloton experience appeals to me so strongly. Its vast array of guided workout options is a game-changer, especially since I’ve been eager to explore both barre and Pilates classes. With Peloton, I can access all these diverse fitness modalities from the comfort and privacy of my own home, completely eliminating the need for a gym membership. Naomi and I recently visited a Peloton store, and we were both genuinely impressed by the offerings and the immersive experience. It was, in fact, the first time Naomi had ever seriously considered owning one. Our plan is to integrate it into my new office once it’s built, as we currently lack a dedicated space for it within our main living area, marking a significant investment in our long-term health and well-being.

Cultivating a Personal Collection: The Power of Art
Art, a truly enduring aspiration, graces my wish list once again this year, and I anticipate it will remain a cherished goal for years to come. In 2021, I had the privilege of beginning my art collection, making intentional investments in exquisite works by talented Black and POC artists. This commitment to supporting diverse voices and enriching our home with meaningful pieces is a journey I am dedicated to continuing indefinitely. Art, for me, is more than mere decoration; it is a profound expression, a conversation starter, and a window into different perspectives and narratives. Each piece tells a story, evokes an emotion, and contributes to the unique character and soul of our home. It’s about building a collection that reflects our values, celebrates creativity, and continually inspires us. I recently ordered a truly gorgeous print, and the anticipation of seeing it hung and integrated into our space is almost unbearable. This piece, like others in my burgeoning collection, will not only add aesthetic beauty but also deepen the cultural tapestry of our living environment. Collecting art is a slow, thoughtful process, but it’s one that yields immeasurable rewards, transforming a house into a truly personalized and inspiring sanctuary.
The Iconic Senufo Stool: A Touch of Global Elegance
A pair of Senufo stools has been a coveted item on my wish list for what feels like an eternity, and I have a strong feeling that this year will finally be the year I pull the trigger and bring these sculptural beauties home. I encounter them quite frequently, but I’ve been incredibly selective, prioritizing ethical sourcing and authentic craftsmanship. My aim is to purchase them from a vendor with whom I’ve cultivated a relationship at my local monthly flea market. I’ve already shared my specific preferences with him, and he has assured me that he will procure some for me to consider. Every time I see a Senufo stool, I find myself falling deeper and deeper in love with its organic form, rich history, and versatile appeal. Originating from the Senufo people of West Africa, these hand-carved stools are not just functional pieces of furniture but also significant cultural artifacts, each bearing the unique mark of the artisan. Their minimalist yet robust design allows them to seamlessly integrate into various decor styles, whether as a striking side table, an impromptu seat, or simply a sculptural art object. My bestie, Carmeon, proudly owns a few, and honestly, it’s a constant struggle not to attempt to discreetly sneak one into my luggage when I visit her! They embody a perfect blend of rustic charm and sophisticated design, making them an indispensable addition to any thoughtfully curated home.

Elevated Journeys: Luggage & Luxury Travel Bags
So, while the world outside is still cautiously navigating its reopening, the doors to travel are swinging wider with each passing day. International adventures, in particular, are experiencing a significant resurgence, and let me tell you, your girl is absolutely ready to jet off to somebody’s beautiful country! The yearning to explore again is intense, and I’ve decided that while things are still operating at a slightly slower pace, it’s the opportune moment to upgrade our entire luggage situation. My philosophy is to be perpetually prepared so I don’t ever *have* to get ready, if you catch my drift! Our current luggage has served us faithfully for many years, but it’s undeniably showing its age, and I’m eager to elevate our entire travel experience, starting with our gear. Some time ago – at least a year now – I solicited recommendations for luggage on Instagram, and the responses poured in, offering a wealth of insight. After a thorough and extensive research period, Naomi and I have both become quite enamored with several top-tier brands: Monos, Away (especially now with its new leadership at the helm), Paravel (which stands out for its strong eco-conscious and sustainable practices), the timeless elegance of Rimowa, and the sophisticated designs of Bric’s. Each of these brands offers unique features, durability, and style, promising to transform our future travels.
In the same vein, beyond acquiring new roller luggage for the house, I am incredibly keen to begin my personal Louis Vuitton travel bag collection. My eyes have been fixed on the Keepall Bandouliere 55 for a couple of years now. I had the pleasure of gifting Naomi the Keepall 45 for Christmas a few years ago, and she absolutely adores it, utilizing it as both an overnight bag and a chic carry-on. Naomi, being far more minimalist than I am when it comes to packing, finds the 45 a perfectly adequate size for her travel essentials. For my packing style, however, I would definitely need to opt for the more spacious 55. Furthermore, I have my heart set on owning a piece of Louis Vuitton rolling luggage someday as well. I have a few close friends who own these pieces, and they unequivocally attest that the significant cost is absolutely justified by the exceptional quality, enduring durability, and unparalleled utility they offer, making them true investments for the avid traveler.
The Alfa Outdoor Pizza Oven: Mastering the Art of Wood-Fired Pizza
When it comes to pizza, give me wood-fired, every single time, friends. It is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite. Recently, we’ve found ourselves making homemade pizzas quite frequently, especially since I discovered truly stellar recipes for both a fantastic crust and a rich, flavorful sauce (to which I always add a touch of marjoram for extra depth). We’ve reached a point where we actually prefer crafting our own pizzas at home to ordering takeout. Given my strong conviction that this delightful culinary ritual will be a mainstay in our home for years to come, I’m eager to significantly level up our pizza-making game with an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven. While our new Ilve oven already produces absolutely amazing pizzas and even boasts a dedicated pizza setting, there’s simply nothing that compares to the distinct taste and irresistibly crispy crust achieved only through wood-fired cooking. The intense heat and smoky flavor impart a unique character that is impossible to replicate indoors. This addition wouldn’t just be about incredible pizza; it would also profoundly elevate our entire outdoor living experience, truly serving as the crowning jewel for our soon-to-be backyard paradise. After extensive research into various brands and models, I have definitively settled on the renowned Alfa brand, known for its exceptional quality, performance, and beautiful Italian design. Imagine gathering with friends and family, crafting bespoke pizzas, and enjoying the convivial atmosphere of outdoor cooking—it’s a dream I’m determined to make a reality.

The Allure of Copper: Mauviel and Vintage Copper Pots
The desire for Mauviel cookware makes a delightful repeat appearance on my wish list this year, and I’m more than happy to bring it back. With our kitchen renovation now beautifully complete, my focus has shifted to the serious consideration of investing in and expanding my copper pot collection, with Mauviel representing the pinnacle of this culinary dream. Building a comprehensive copper collection, much like curating an art collection, is an ongoing process that requires patience and thoughtful acquisition. Copper cookware is not merely beautiful; it’s highly prized for its exceptional heat conductivity, allowing for precise temperature control and even cooking, which are crucial for achieving culinary perfection. The aesthetic appeal of polished copper glistening in a newly renovated kitchen is also undeniable, adding a layer of warmth and timeless elegance. I was also incredibly excited to finally get my hands on some authentic vintage copper pieces from Cat in France, a true treasure trove for discerning collectors. My hope is to acquire a few more cherished pieces from her, including a tall pasta/stock pot that would be indispensable for simmering broths and cooking large batches of pasta, as well as a beautiful au gratin dish, perfect for baking and serving savory gratins and casseroles with a touch of rustic sophistication. Beyond these specific acquisitions, I also constantly scour Etsy, the digital marketplace for unique and handcrafted items, in my ongoing quest for other exquisite French copper treasures, each with its own story and patina, eager to become a part of our home’s culinary narrative.
Architectural Elegance: A Carriage Garage Door
I must admit, having a garage door on my wish list feels like I’ve reached peak adulting, but alas, here we are! You all, I want a carriage garage door so incredibly badly. They possess an undeniable beauty, a classic charm, and would be absolutely perfect for the distinctive aesthetic of our cottage bungalow. The plan has always been to eventually upgrade our garage doors; this idea crystalized a few years ago after we had the house freshly painted. Our current garage door, while functional, is certainly showing its age and wear. Giving it a fresh coat of black paint was a fantastic and affordable interim solution, tiding us over until we are fully ready to make the significant investment in a new one. It’s truly surprising how profoundly a garage door can impact the overall curb appeal and architectural character of a house. Furthermore, and quite significantly, a well-chosen garage door can massively affect resale value, offering a substantial return on investment. I often find myself browsing the Real Carriage Doors website, not just for inspiration, but because their designs are simply breathtaking. While their impeccable good looks certainly come with a hefty price tag, making it a substantial investment, I firmly believe it will be an expenditure well worth it, both for the enhanced aesthetics and the substantial boost to our home’s overall market value and curb appeal. It’s an essential finishing touch that will perfectly align with the charming, timeless character we’ve cultivated throughout our property.
